Voice Of Reason (Churchill) wins at Killarney

Progressive Son Of Churchill Rallies For Maiden Victory

Voice Of Reason (3g Churchill – Hurricane Emma, by Mr Greeley) built on two promising performances to justify favouritism in the mile and three furlong maiden at Killarney on Monday.

Ger Lyons’ charge emerged as a smart sort when finishing a close third to Cairo on debut last season, with the winner having since won two Stakes races and most recently took second in the Group 1 Irish 2,000 Guineas. Third to a highly-rated rival on his three-year-old return, Martin White’s homebred was reunited with Colin Keane on Monday and raced prominently throughout. Pushed along to lead after the two furlong pole, he was ridden when headed a furlong later and rallied gamely to lead by a head on the line.

Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Shane Lyons said, “We're delighted for the horse. It's onwards and upwards, I think mentally and physically he'll improve and improve to better things.”

The improving son of Churchill is closely related to the highly-rated Emblem Empire (Gleneagles) and Island Rule (No Nay Never).
