Promising Churchill Colt Wins Epsom Maiden

Chartwell House (2c Churchill - Ihtifal, by Dansili) dug deep to justify favouritism in Monday’s seven furlong maiden at Epsom.

The William Knight-trained colt finished a promising third on debut and was narrowly denied next time out, with both runs coming over six furlongs. Partnered by Jim Crowley on Monday, the bay raced prominently throughout and was pushed along before the two furlong marker. Ridden to challenge approaching the final furlong, he kept on strongly to lead close home and beat Cobalt Blue (Sioux Nation) by a head on the line. The pair finished four lengths clear of the field.

Chartwell House is owned by Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds and was bred by Peter Moloney, who was rewarded at the foal sales with a price of 92,000gns.
