Promising Churchill Juvenile Goes One Better
El Bodon (2c Churchill - Flawless Jewel, by Kheleyf) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism in Thursday’s six furlong Novice Stakes at Lingfield.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge finished second last month and enjoyed a boost in form when the winner subsequently outran his odds in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes. Sent off favourite on Thursday, he raced prominently throughout under Adam Kirby and led approaching the final furlong. Ridden clear soon after, he won by a length and a quarter, with a head back to Trevor (Footstepsinthesand) in third.
Owned by PW Harris, El Bodon was bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock as a yearling for 150,000gns. The son of Churchill was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud and partners.
