Promising Juveniles Complete Saturday Double For Zoffany
Saturday saw Zoffarelli (2c Zoffany - Genuine Quality, by Elusive Quality) gain a deserved maiden win at Kempton, to complete a two-year-old double for Zoffany.
Second on all three of his previous starts, the Ralph Beckett-trained colt was sent off second favourite for the seven furlong contest and raced towards the back of the field under Rob Hornby. Making good headway from two furlongs out, he produced a strong challenge inside the final furlong and dug deep to lead close home, beating the favourite Elected by a neck on the line.
Owned by Mrs EM Slade, B Ohlsson and partner, Zoffarelli was bred by Gigginstown House Stud.
Earlier in the day at La Teste, the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Bialystok (2c Zoffany - Deauville Shower, by High Chaparral) built on a promising debut third to win the mile maiden.
Producing a late challenge under Jean-Bernard Eyquem, he led close home to win by a neck, with another three and a half lengths back to the third horse.
Bred by T Storme and T Lohest, Bialystok is owned by Ecurie Serge Stempniak and Ecurie Des Charmes and was bought by his trainer as a yearling for €90,000. The son of Zoffany provides an important update for his yearling sister by Mastercraftsman, who sells at next week’s Arqana yearling sale.
