Promising Maiden Winner Continues Terrific Run For Churchill
Collage (3f Churchill - Bright Glow, by Exceed And Excel) built on a promising debut to win Tuesday’s seven and a half furlong maiden at Tipperary.
The Willie McCreery-trained bay was beaten just a head by Snowcapped (Churchill) earlier this month and enjoyed a boost of form when the winner followed up impressively at the Curragh, before placing in a valuable handicap. Sent off second favourite on Tuesday, she raced prominently under Billy Lee and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Despite showing signs of inexperience, she dug deep when challenged by a more experienced rival and rallied to lead by a short lead on the line.
“It is lovely good ground and she loved it,” McCreery said after the race. “Billy thought she quickened up really nicely to go and win the race and was very green when she hit the front. It was a lovely run in Gowran and she has sharpened up a lot since then.”
Owned by Steve Parkin’s Clipper Logistics Group, Collage continues a terrific run for her sire Churchill.
