Promising Rock Of Gibraltar Colt Not For Catching
Start Line (3c Rock Of Gibraltar - Elmaam, by Nayef) appears to have a bright future ahead of him, after running out an impressive winner of Tuesday’s mile maiden at Killarney.
The Michael Halford-trained colt made an encouraging debut last month and appeared to relish Tuesday’s front-running tactics. Nudged along at the three furlong marker, he showed signs of inexperience when ridden in the straight, but began to power clear inside the final furlong. Eased down close home, he won by four and a half lengths.
Speaking after the race, winning rider Shane Foley said, “It wasn't the plan to make the running but he popped out and was left there and was enjoying it. He is a forward going horse and enjoyed that ease in the ground as well. He could be a nice fun horse and has plenty size and scope.”
Start Line is owned by Nasir Askar and was bred by Michael Shefflin.
