Promising Son Of No Nay Never Scores On Return
Freedom Day (3g No Nay Never - Pioneer Spirit, by Galileo) built on last season’s promise to justify favouritism in Monday’s Novice Stakes at Redcar.
The John and Thady Gosden-trained bay was last seen finishing fourth in a Sandown maiden won by a subsequent Listed winner, and stepped up to a mile on his three-year-old return. Racing in touch under Robert Havlin, Lady Bamford’s homebred was pushed along approaching the two furlong marker and was ridden to challenge a furlong from home. He overcame signs of inexperience to lead inside the final furlong and kept on to deny Old Smoke (Caravaggio) by half a length.
There should be more to come from the son of No Nay Never, who is the first foal out of Pioneer Spirit (Galileo).
