Promising Starspangledbanner Colt Draws Clear

Friday saw the highly-rated Dinoo (3c Starspangledbanner - Shirley Blad, by Dylan Thomas) gain a deserved maiden win in the seven furlong novice stakes at Haydock.

Placed twice from four previous starts, the son of Starspangledbanner finished a gallant fifth in the Group 3 Solario Stakes as a two-year-old and was sent off favourite on his latest start. Ridden to lead from the early stages by David Egan, the bay kept on strongly inside the final furlong and went on to win by four lengths.

Trained by Roger Varian for Davood Vakil Gilani, Dinoo was bought as a yearling for 140,000gns.
