Promising Starspangledbanner Colt Draws Clear At Chester

The Andrew Balding-trained Qetaifan (2c Starspangledbanner – My Call, by Shamardal) built on two promising runs to win his third start at Chester on Friday.

The Al Rabban Racing-owned colt caught the eye on debut at Newmarket, where he finished fourth despite running green, and finished fifth against a well-regarded type at Sandown. He was sent off favourite upon dropping back to six furlongs and took close order under Jason Watson. The bay led before the two furlong pole and was pushed clear a furlong later, keeping on to score by three and a quarter lengths.

The improving son of Starspangledbanner was bred by Rosemont Stud.
