Promising Wootton Bassett Colt Not For Catching
Tangapour (2c Wootton Bassett – Tanaza, by Dubawi) proved a cut above his rivals in Monday’s mile maiden at Killarney.
Johnny Murtagh’s charge shaped with promise on debut, when racing green in a Leopardstown maiden won by subsequent Group 1 winner Green Impact (Wootton Bassett). Third next time out, the improving colt was well-supported on his third start and showed the benefit of experience when making all under Colin Keane. Ridden two furlongs from home, he kept on well to win by four lengths.
“He had a nice run the first day,” Keane later said of the Aga Khan homebred. “Johnny felt he was coming here in good nick and thought he'd handle the ground. He wanted to keep it straightforward and we did that, so thankfully it worked.”
