Rock Of Gibraltar Filly Impresses With Stakes Success
A step up in trip and switch to turf saw the progressive Rocky Sky (3f Rock Of Gibraltar - Road Tosky, by Elusive City) produce a career-best performance in Sunday’s Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan.
The Ross O’Sullivan-trained filly won her maiden over a mile and was second over the same trip at Listed level last month. Stepping up to ten furlongs at the weekend, she led from over seven furlongs out and quickened approaching the three furlong marker. Extending her advantage inside the final furlong, she scored by four and a quarter lengths under Gary Halpin.
Speaking after the race, Halpin said, “I thought she would be very competitive stepping up in trip on grass. She's a very nice filly and one to look forward to.”
Owned Mrs Catherine Kinane, Rocky Sky was bred by Eadling Farm out of Stakes performer Road Tosky. From the family of Lypharita, she becomes a sixtieth individual Listed winner by Rock Of Gibraltar, who has sired another 75 individual Group winners.
