Second G1 Win for Mastercraftsman Mare
German bred mare A Raving Beauty (5m Mastercraftsman x Anabasis, by High Chaparral) added a second Grade I win to her resume when taking out the $400,000 Grade I First Lady Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday.
A two time stakes-winner in Germany and Grade I placed, A Raving Beauty has blossomed in the US this year for new owners Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables and Bethlehem Stables.
Now trained by Chad Brown, she won the Grade I Just a Game Stakes at Belmont back in June and returned to winning form in this one mile turf contest to win by a head.
“I thought it worked out pretty good,” said winning rider John Velazquez. “Obviously being on the inside [from post two] we wanted to be close and wanted to make sure she was settling. We came out running, got our position and after that it was pretty good.”
A Raving Beauty has the overall record of six wins and six placings from 22 starts with prizemoney topping $1million.
A Raving Beauty was purchased by Mandore International Agency for €225,000 at last year’s Arqana December Mixed Sale and is looking like a great purchase for her new owners!
