Six-Figures All The Way For Sottsass At Tattersalls Book 1
The first yearlings by World Champion Three-Year-Old Sottsass were well-received at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale, where all five offered sold for six-figure sums.
Blandford Bloodstock purchased the Arc hero’s highest-priced progeny, led by Glenvale Stud’s half-sister to Group performer Mooney Love (Australia). Blandford’s final bid of 200,000gns marked a fine return on the filly’s foal price of €105,000.
Earlier in the sale, Blandford Bloodstock went to 180,000gns for a Sottsass colt from Kilminfoyle House Stud. The February-born bay is a half-brother to Listed scorer I’m A Gambler (No Nay Never) and hails from the family of Listen (Sadler’s Wells) and Sequoyah (Sadler’s Wells).
Ralph Beckett will be among those training Sottsass’s first crop, having bought one of his daughters from Tally-Ho Stud for 150,000gns. The O’Callaghan family’s homebred is a half-sister to Group 1 filly Dame Malliott and to Beckett’s highly-rated charge Sonny Liston.
Lynn Lodge Stud offered another well-bred Sottsass filly, which was bought by McKeever Bloodstock and Barry Hills for 105,000gs, while a Sottsass colt from European Sales Management was knocked down to Tony Shafrazi for 110,000gns.
Sottsass ended the sale with a median price of 150,000gns, from an opening stud fee of €30,000.
