Six Figures For Ten Sovereigns Yearlings At Goffs UK
The first crop of Ten Sovereigns made a strong impression at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale, where two of his fillies fetched six-figure sums.
John and Jess Dance’s Manor House Farm stretched to £150,000 for Manister House Stud’s offering on the second day of trade. Offered as Lot 192, the bay is the first foal out of Rainbow Moonstone (Holy Roman Emperor), herself a useful daughter of Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes heroine Moonstone Magic.
Tuesday saw Richard Hughes give £110,000 for a Ten Sovereigns filly from Jamie Railton Sales Agency. A late April foal, Lot 21 is an example of Ten Sovereigns’ quality first crop, with her being a half-sister to three Stakes performers.
Longways Stables and JB Bloodstock were other buyers who successfully secured the progeny of Ten Sovereigns over the two days, with the former having also bought a daughter of Ten Sovereigns at the earlier Arqana August Sale for €150,000.
Ten Sovereigns was a top-class two-year-old, with his unbeaten juvenile campaign including Group 1 glory in the Middle Park Stakes and an impressive performance in the Round Tower Stakes. He recorded a second top-flight success in the July Cup the following season.
Ten Sovereigns’ popularity with breeders and buyers is undoubtedly strengthened by the achievements of his sire No Nay Never, who is responsible for two Group 1 winning two-year-olds this season. The Scat Daddy sire line is also being continued with great aplomb by first season sire Sioux Nation, who is responsible for Group winners Lakota Sioux and Sydneyarms Chelsea.
