Smart 2yo winner for Yeats
The Andrew Balding-trained Montaly (2c Yeats-Le Badie, by Spectrum) looks set to develop into a decent three-year-old after becoming another first crop juvenile winner for Yeats at Nottingham on Wednesday.
Home-bred by the Farleigh Court Racing Partnership, he stepped up on his debut to land the 12-runner maiden, staged over an extended mile, under David Probert.
The Racing Post’s Analysis stated: “MONTALY shaped like a proper stayer when fifth on debut at Lingfield and he relished the stiffer test of stamina on this turf debut, needing every yard of the trip to get on top. Ground conditions were clearly not a bother for the son of legendary stayer Yeats and he should make up into a useful middle-distance/staying handicapper next season.”
Probert added: "Montaly knuckled down and is a galloper - I think the ground might have just helped me get there. He´ll stay further next year on his breeding."
