Smart Churchill Colt Lands Maiden On Second Start

Zain Sarinda (3c Churchill - Sarinda, by Dubawi) built on a promising debut to take Monday’s Betway Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton.

A promising fourth at Kempton in November, Tom Clover’s charge was sent off favourite as he stepped up to nine and a half furlongs and was ridden close to the pace by Luke Morris. Pushed along to lead approaching the two furlong pole, he was carried left by a challenger, but kept on well to win by a length and a quarter. Grand Alliance (Churchill) kept on well for third, with the leading trio drawing clear of the field.

Owned by Elbashir Salem AB Elhrari, Zain Sarinda was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and comes from the family of Rock Of Gibraltar. He hails from a promising first crop by Churchill, which produced three juvenile Stakes winners, while Churchill’s second crop sold for up to 440,000gns at the 2021 yearling sales.
