Siamsa (Starspangledbanner) Wins Her Maiden At Newmarket

Smart Filly Quickens Clear On Super Saturday For Starspangledbanner

A switch to turf saw the improving Siamsa (2f Starspangledbanner - Sluabh Luachra, by High Chaparral) get off the mark in style in Saturday’s fillies’ maiden at Newmarket.

The Richard Hannon-trained filly led from the early stages under Pat Dobbs and was shaken up approaching the final furlong. Pushed out, she quickened smartly to win by two and a half lengths.

It was not just a deserved win for Mrs Joan Brosnan’s homebred, but also for Starspangledbanner, with Flotus (Starspangledbanner) and Castle Star (Starspangledbanner) each claiming runners-up honours in the Group 1 features on the same card.
