Smart Juvenile Continues Fine Run For Zoffany
Spirit Of Sisra (2f Zoffany - Tadris, by Red Ransom) continued a fine season so far for Zoffany when taking the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
The Tom Dascombe-trained bay was stepping up in trip to seven furlongs on her second start and was ridden prominently by Jane Elliott. Shaken up two furlongs from home, she ran on well inside the final furlong to win by a length and three quarters from Star Cactus (Uncle Mo).
Speaking after the race, the winning jockey said, “Spirit Of Sisra ran a promising debut over a trip too short for her at Newcastle and she's always been a sharp sort at home which lulled us into thinking so wanted five furlongs rather than this trip.”
Owned by Sisra Ltd, Spirit Of Sisra was bred by Summerhill Bloodstock and Lynch Bages Ltd. Closely related to Group performer Yaseer, she is out of dual Listed winner Tadris and comes from the family of Nashwan.
