Smart Magna Grecia Colt Storms To Maiden Victory
Neapolitan (2c Magna Grecia - Silver Meadow, by Teofilo) shaped like a smart colt when finishing strongly to win his second start at Kempton on Wednesday.
Simon and Ed Crisford’s charge showed promise on debut when finishing sixth at Newmarket to Eben Shaddad (Calyx), who subsequently finished third in a Group 3. Racing over six furlongs once again on Wednesday, Neapolitan was settled in midfield by James Doyle and had plenty to do with two furlongs left to race. Switched out approaching the final furlong, he produced an impressive turn of foot to fly past his rivals and led by a led on the line.
Owned by Rabbah Racing and bred by Team Hogdala, Neapolitan was bought by Stroud Coleman as a yearling for €120,000. The promising bay hails from the first crop of top-class miler Magna Grecia, whose first runners also include Stakes winner Myconia and Listed second Thekingofmyheart.
