Smart Maiden Winner Continues Fine Run For Zoffany
Zoffany’s fantastic run continued on Thursday, when the Joseph O’Brien-trained Sense Of Style (2f Zoffany - Attire, by Danehill Dancer) captured a competitive maiden at Naas.
A close second on her two previous starts, she chased the leaders for much of the seven furlong contest and was travelling well under Declan McDonagh with two furlongs left to race. Soon improving into second, she stayed on well under pressure to lead close home and scored by a length from Rosa Woodsii (Wootton Bassett), who snatched runners-up honours from favourite Friendly (Galileo).
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Brendan Powell commented, “She had every right to win on her form. Hopefully there should be a fair bit of improvement next season. Declan said she travelled away well today and when he asked her to pick up she's galloped the whole way to the line.”
Owned by Mrs Sangster and Mrs John Magnier, Sense of Style was bred by BV Sangster out of a full-sister to dual Stakes winner Forgotten Voice (Danehill Dancer). The daughter of Zoffany is a half-sister to this year’s impressive Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes winner Leo De Fury (Australia) and provides a timely update for her Camelot brother selling at next month’s Tattersalls Book 1 Sale.
