Son Of Churchill Gains Deserved Maiden Win

Comfort Zone (3g Churchill - Iveagh Gardens, by Mastercraftsman) led home a 1-2 for Coolmore sires in Monday’s mile and a half maiden at Roscommon.

Joseph O’Brien’s charge finished second twice last season and finished a promising fourth on return last month. Sent off favourite to gain a deserved win, he raced prominently under Mikey Sheehy and after being slightly hampered, was pushed along approaching the final furlong. Digging deep when asked, he got up to deny Monarchs Brae (Highland Reel) by a head), the pair finishing four and a half lengths of the field.
