Delphi (Galileo) Wins The Listed Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown

Son Of Galileo Impresses In Nijinsky Stakes

Delphi (3c Galileo - Bye Bye Birdie, by Oasis Dream) made it three from three this season when justifying favoritism in the Listed Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown.

A Curragh maiden winner last month, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt went on to score over ten furlongs earlier this month and stepped up to a mile and a half on Thursday evening. Wayne Lordan rode the bay to make all, quickening away from the two furlong pole and went clear to win by four and a quarter lengths. Stablemate Numen (Galileo) kept on well to finish second ahead of Aunt Bee (Australia) in third and Degraves (Camelot) in fourth.

Given the impressive nature of his latest win, a step up in class is undoubtedly on the cards for Delphi. The Coolmore homebred becomes the second Stakes performer from two runners out of Bye Bye Birdie, her first foal Credenza (Galileo) having been placed in four Stakes contests.
