Son Of Magna Grecia Displays Winning Attitude
Mini Magna (2g Magna Grecia - Purple Glow, by Orientate) became the latest winner by his freshman sire on Friday when producing a game performance in the sprint maiden at Bath.
A promising fourth on debut, Ed Dunlop’s charge was headed on the line next time out and was well-supported to get off the mark at the third time of asking. Chasing the leader under David Probert, he was going best of the field when leading approaching the final furlong. Ridden when challenged, he battled neck-and-neck with the favourite to prevail by a neck on the line, with the pair rallying four lengths clear of the field.
Speaking after the race, the winning jockey said, “He tries hard. He was good at the line, he's won a nice neck and he's got plenty of improvement to have.”
Bred by Maxwell Ervine, Mini Magna becomes a second winner this week by his sire, with Indication Spirit having completed a hat-trick of wins two days prior. Magna Grecia’s first crop also includes Stakes winner Myconian and smart debut winner Ms Brightside.
