Son Of Mastercraftsman All Heart In Group 3 Victory
Richard Freedman was full of praise for Paths Of Glory (6g Mastercraftsman - Pacific Rim, by Singspiel), after his charge returned to winning ways in the Group 3 JRA Plate at Randwick.
A four-time winner for Hugo Palmer, the China Horse Club-owned grey scored at Listed level for Richard and Michael Freedman in September and was last seen taking third in a Group 2 contest. Dropping back to ten furlongs on Saturday, he was forced to bide his time in the straight and raced through a gap a furlong and a half from home. Running home strongly, he kept on well to beat the favourite, three-time Stakes winner Zaaki, by a head on the line.
Speaking after the race, co-trainer Richard Freedman said, “He’s as genuine as they come. He’s a real old beauty and I’m happy for the owners and for him. He gives his absolute best. He is a lovely horse to train.” On future plans, he added, “He is so resilient that I think we could take him to Brisbane and there might be a couple of nice races up there for him.”
Bred by Dayton Investments, the son of Mastercraftsman is the best performer out of Group 2 winners Pacific Rim.
