Son Of Mastercraftsman Comes Out On Top
Monday saw the well-bred Suffrage (3g Mastercraftsman – Abys, by Montjeu) prevail in a tight finish to the Prix Bruleur, a ten furlong maiden at Lyon.
Last seen making his debut in November, the Freddy Head-trained bay was sent off favourite under Maxime Guyon, who rode him to track the leaders. Producing a challenge entering the final furlong, Suffrage won by a neck as his rivals finished strongly behind him.
A Wertheimer family homebred, Suffrage becomes the second winner out of Abys (Montjeu), a black-type full-sister to Group 1 winners Corre Caminos (Montjeu) and Recital (Montjeu). The son of Mastercraftsman is bred on a similar cross to another top-level scorer in Technician (Mastercraftsman), as well as Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Even Song (Mastercraftsman).
