Son Of Mastercraftsman Follows Up With Group 2 Win
Quian (4c Mastercraftsman - Quiana, by Monsun) confirmed his status as one of Germany’s leading stayers when justifying favoritism in Sunday’s Group 2 Oleander-Rennen at Hoppegarten.
The Peter Schiergen-trained grey was stepping back up in trip to two miles, with his previous Listed and Group 3 wins having come over a mile and six furlongs. He chased the leaders under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and was ridden approaching the two furlong marker, running on well on the outside to lead close home. The winning margin was three parts of a length, as runner-up Rip Van Lips confirmed previous form, with another two and a half lengths back to the sponor Luke Comer’s Aircraft Carrier in third.
Owned by Stall Hornoldendorf, Quian was bred by Gestut Fahrhof out of a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Quijano.
