Son Of Mastercraftsman Goes One Better At Goodwood
The well-bred John Locke (3g Mastercraftsman - Sacred Shield, by Beat Hollow) gained a deserved maiden success when justifying favoritism at Goodwood on Tuesday.
Runner-up on all three of his previous starts, Ralph Beckett’s charge dropped back in trip to ten furlongs and raced in midfield for much of the way under Harry Bentley. Making headway to lead two furlongs out, he went clear approaching the final furlong and kept on to hold off Aaddeey by three parts of a length.
There may be more to come from the Juddmonte homebred, who is closely related to two Stakes winners in Crossed Baton and Viadera.
