Son Of Mastercraftsman Rallies For Perth Cup Victory
The Neville Parnham-trained Neufbosc (6g Mastercraftsman - Nonsuch Way, by Verglas) came out on top in a thrilling finish to Saturday’s Group 2 Perth Cup worth Aus$400,000.
Group 1 placed and twice a Stakes winner in his native France, Neufbosc gained his win Australian success for Seymour Bloodstock and Mike Pilkington in a seven furlong Listed contest at Ascot in November. Stepping back up to a mile and a half at the weekend, he produced a challenge approaching the turn for home, racing wide on the bend and ran down the favourite Truly Great in the straight. The pair rallied to the post, where Neufbosc prevailed by a head under Chris Parnham and reversed previous form with last month’s Group 1 victor, the pair drawing over four lengths clear of the field.
Bred by Franklin Finance, Neufbosc is the best performer out of the Group-placed mare Nonsuch Way and one of 48 individual Group winners by Mastercraftsman.
