Son Of No Nay Gains Maiden Win In Fine Style
Moss Gill (3g No Nay Never - Sharaarah, by Oasis Dream) gained a well-deserved maiden victory when running out a clearcut winner of the five furlong Novice Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.
The James Bethell-trained bay had finished second on all three starts this season and was dually sent off favourite. Taking a keen hold under PJ McDonald, he tracked the leader until the second last furlong, where he made smooth headway to lead and soon went clear. Striding out well, he scored by an impressive six lengths.
The Geoffrey Van Cutsem-owned winner was later described by McDonald as “a nice horse going forward.” Bred by Camas Park and Lynch Bages, Moss Gill is a half-brother to the same connections’ highly-rated Ulshaw Bridge (High Chaparral) and is a grandson of Listed winner and Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes second Nidhaal.
