Son Of No Nay Never Brings 850,000gns At Tattersalls
A bidding battle for recent Stakes winner I’m A Gambler (3g No Nay Never - We Are Ninety, by Thewayyouare) saw the progressive son of No Nay Never sell for a session-topping 850,000gns on the second day of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.
Red Baron’s Barn and Rancho Temescal were the eventual buyers of Charlie and Mark Johnston’s progressive charge, while Saud Al Qahtani of Najd Stud filled the role of underbidder.
After signing the docket, Tim Cohen said, “It’s hard to find a solid three-year-old and obviously he’s one of the highest rated horses in the sale. He’s a quality individual, he’s proved that, so if we can maintain his form, or maybe even enhance it, then that would be great. He doesn’t have much left to prove to me though.”
Co-trainer Charlie Johnston was full of praise for I’m A Gambler after the sale and said, “He’s a phenomenal physical, a beautiful horse, and he’s had no issues all the way through his career. He’s been an easy horse to train as he’s very sound and very tough and he’s really taken off in the last four or five months. It’s a phenomenal result.”
A three-time winner as a juvenile, I’m A Gambler has gone from strength to strength this season, with the most recent of his six wins coming in the valuable Sovereign Path Handicap at Irish Champions Weekend and the Listed Guisborough Stakes. Owned by John Brown and Megan Dennis, the son of No Nay Never was bred by Fullbury Ltd out of We Are Ninety, who has a yearling filly by Calyx and a colt foal by Sottsass.
