Souffionne (No Nay Never) Wins At Newcastle

Son Of No Nay Never Builds On Debut Promise

Souffionne (3g No Nay Never - Coral Shell, by High Chaparral) took a step forward from last month’s promising debut to land Tuesday’s Novice Stakes at Newcastle.

Hugo Palmer’s charge caught the eye when finishing fourth in another seven furlong contest in which the first and second have since won. Racing in second for much of the way on his second start, he improved to lead approaching the final furlong and kept on well when challenged soon after. Ridden out by Clifford Lee, he beat the more experienced Moon Flight by half a length, while the favourite finished another two lengths and three quarters further back in third.

Souffionne is owned by ASJ Shawe and was bred by Lynch Bages out of the homebred High Chaparral mare Coral Shell. A full-sister to the promising son of No Nay Never sold for 300,000gns at Tattersalls last month.
