Son Of No Nay Never Maintains Upward Curve In Stakes Company
Saturday saw the progressive I’m A Gambler (3g No Nay Never - We Are Ninety, by Thewayyouare) follow up last month’s valuable success with a first black-type win in the Listed Guisborough at Redcar.
Charlie and Mark Johnston’s charge came into the race boasting five wins this season, with another three as a juvenile, and held a career-high mark of 110. Racing in touch under Franny Norton, the bay was travelling well with over two furlongs left to run and was ridden to lead a furlong from home. Keeping on well, he scored by a length on the line.
Speaking after the race, owner John Brown said, “I’m A Gambler has gone up 25lb in the handicap this year. Every time he runs he just finds that bit more. He's entered in a Group 2 at Newmarket on Friday and I should think he could run there, I don't see why not.”
Brown owns I’m A Gambler with Megan Dennis and has earned over £225,000 thanks to the son of No Nay Never. He is the first foal bred by Fullbury Ltd out of We Are Ninety, whose Calyx filly sells at Tattersalls Book 2.
