Son Of No Nay Never Repeats Meydan Success
Thursday saw Art Du Val (4g No Nay Never - Aquarelle Rare, by Rainbow Quest) gain his second valuable win at Meydan when taking the Strata Trophy for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.
A winner over course and distance last February, the bay went on to win a Listed contest at Saint-Cloud in June and made a promising seasonal return last month. Sent off joint-favourite under William Buick, he raced in mid-division and improved his position from three furlongs out. Leading from a furlong and a half out, he ran on well as Red Cactus gave chase, with Art Du Val prevailing by a short head on the line.
It marked a fourth career success for Art Du Val, a 120,000gns yearling who was bred by DJ and Mrs Deer. The son of No Nay Never is the highest-rated performer out of Aquarelle Rare, herself a daughter of multiple Group 1 scorer Aquarelliste (Danehill).
