Son Of No Nay Never Wins Maiden In Good Style
Sceptic (3g No Nay Never - Aljaazya, by Speightstown) produced a smart turn of foot to win Friday’s seven furlong maiden at Lingfield.
The Andrew Balding-trained bay showed promise on debut in October, when finishing fourth at Newmarket, and was well-supported to get off the mark at the second time of asking. Positioned in second by David Probert, he was pushed along from two furlongs out and was ridden to lead a furlong from home. Quickening well, he beat Sharp Power (Churchill) by a length and a quarter.
The improving son of No Nay Never is owned by Mrs Fitri Hay, having been bought by Sackville Donald and Dermot Farrington at Tattersalls Book 2 for 260,000gns. He was bred by Camas Park, Lynch Bages and Summerhill out of a half-sister to Stakes winner Nakheel (Sadler’s Wells).
