Pearle D'Or (Starspangledbanner) Makes A Winning Debut At Naas

Son Of Starspangledbanner Creates Fine Impression On Debut

Pearle D’Or (2g Starspangledbanner - Thoughtless Moment, by Pivotal) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Sunday’s six furlong maiden at Naas.

Held up in midfield by Chris Hayes, the Moyglare Stud homebred was travelling well with two furlongs left to race and overcame signs of inexperience to lead 110 yards out. He kept on well to win by two and a quarter lengths, going away.

Speaking after the race, winning trainer Dermot Weld said, “He’s a nice big horse, still very raw. He’s been working very nicely and let’s hope he makes into a nice three-year-old for us.”

Starspangledbanner sired another smart winner recently when the Charlie Hills-trained River Tweed (3g Starspangledbanner - Sorry Woman, by Ivan Denisovich) made all to win the six furlong Novice Stakes at Redcar.

A promising third on debut in March, the Mrs Fitri Hay-owned bay was ridden by Kieran Shoemark for the first time on Friday and kept on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.

The son of Starspangledbanner was bred by the Newtown Stud Syndicate.
