Son Of Starspangledbanner Delivers On Debut
One Eye Jack (2g Starspangledbanner – Riven Star, by Falco) overcame inexperience to land Saturday’s mile maiden at Haydock.
Hugo Palmer’s charge was slowly into stride and ran green in the early stages under Paul Mulrennan. He recovered to make headway approaching the final furlong and began to draw clear with the favourite Sir William. One Eye Jack ran on well to assert close home, leading by a head on the line, with another five and a half lengths back to the third horse.
Owned by Middleham Park Racing, the promising Starspangledbanner gelding was bred by Scea Marmion Vauville with Skymarc Farm.
