Soaring Star (Starspangledbanner) Wins The Novice Stakes At Ayr

Son Of Starspangledbanner Makes All To Maiden Victory

Monday saw the Kevin Ryan-trained Soaring Star (3g Starspangledbanner - Peig, by Refuse To Bend) gain a deserved maiden win in the six furlong Novice Stakes at Ayr.

Placed on four of his five previous starts, the bay was sent off favourite under Kevin Stott, who rode him to make all. Shaken up two furlongs out, he ran on well to score by two and a quarter lengths, with another five lengths back to the third horse.

Owned by Hambleton Racing, Soaring Star becomes the second smart winner in as many days by Starspangledbanner, whose son Rough Diamond made a winning debut at the Curragh on Sunday. Soaring Star was bred by Epona Bloodstock out of the unraced mare Peig, who is closely related to Grade 1 winner Subtle Power (Sadler’s Wells).
