Son Of Ten Sovereigns Produces Smart Performance
Ten Pounds (3g Ten Sovereigns – Lady Fashion, by Oasis Dream) shaped like a useful prospect when running out a comfortable winner at Newcastle on Friday.
Harry Charlton’s charge finished fourth behind to two previous winners on debut at Newbury in May, with the runner-up having since won. That promising performance saw the bay sent off favourite for the second division of the seven-furlong novice stakes, in which he was ridden prominently by Trevor Whelan. Improving to lead from two furlongs out, he ran on well to win by three and a half lengths, with another 11 lengths back to the third.
Owned by Mohammed Jaber, Ten Pounds was bred by Glenvale Stud and Edgeridge Ltd. He hails from the first crop of Ten Sovereigns, who has sired 14 Stakes performers to date.
