Son Of The Gurkha Records Stylish Maiden Victory
Emerging (3g The Gurkha - Don’t Cry For Me, by Street Cry) confirmed himself a smart prospect when running out a comfortable winner of the mile maiden at Bath on Wednesday evening.
A close fourth on debut earlier this month, the James Fanshawe-trained bay was sent off joint-favourite to make it second time lucky. Racing in midfield under Daniel Muscutt, he made smooth headway approaching the two furlong marker and was asked to challenge a furlong later. Running on well, he quickened past his rivals to win by a length and a half, ears pricked.
Owned by Ben CM Wong, Emerging was bought by Suzanne Roberts as a yearling for 125,000gns. From the first crop of The Gurkha, he was bred by John Gunther.
