Chindit (Wootton Bassett) Wins The Listed Queen Anne Stakes Trial at Ascot

Son Of Wootton Bassett Adds To Terrific Record

The Richard Hannon-trained Chindit (5h Wootton Bassett - Always A Dream, by Oasis Dream) recorded his sixth Stakes success on his seasonal return at Ascot on Wednesday.

The Michael Pescod-owned five-year-old was proven over course and distance, having won the Group 2 Summer Mile last season, and was sent off joint-favourite for the Listed Queen Anne Stakes Trial. Leading for most of the way under regular rider Pat Dobbs, he was ridden inside the final furlong and kept on well to prevail by three parts of a length on the line.

“He’s an extremely reliable and very sound horse,” Hannon said after the race. “I think he will go for the Lockinge next, then the Queen Anne and maybe Australia at the end of the year.”

The son of Wootton Bassett was bred by JC Bloodstock and Rory Mahon.
