Son Of Wootton Bassett Lands Qatar Derby
Hellenistique (3g Wootton Bassett - Hasturianita, by Dubawi) landed a valuable prize for his new connections when racing home strongly to win the Qatar Derby at Doha on Sunday.
Purchased from the Graffard stable in November, the son of Wootton Bassett dropped back to ten furlongs for the local Group 1 contest and was ridden towards the back of the field under Marco Casamento. Producing a challenge in the straight, the bay headed stablemate King Pacha approaching the final furlong and ran on well to win by three lengths.
Now trained by Zuhair Mohsen for Injaaz Stud, Hellenistique was bred by Haras d’Etreham.
