Son Of Wootton Bassett Takes Chantilly Maiden
The promising William Tell (3g Wootton Bassett - Lucerne, by Frankel) made a winning three-year-old return in Friday’s six and a half furlong maiden at Chantilly.
Runner-up on debut in August, Andre Fabre’s charge was partnered by Arthur Mosse on return and led from the early stages. Shaken up with less than two furlongs left to race, he kicked clear approaching the final furlong and kept on well to win by a length and a half.
William Tell was bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock as a yearling for €420,000 and now runs in the colours of Godolphin. The son of Wootton Bassett was bred by Ecurie des Monceaux and hails from the family of Holy Roman Emperor.
