Son Of Zoffany Pounces Late To Land Valuable Prize

Fayez (5g Zoffany - Gems, by Haafhd) pounced late to land the valuable Unibet Handicap on Monday, the very first race of the 2019 Glorious Goodwood festival.

Held up in a field of 16 by Danny Tudhope, David O’Meara’s charge still had plenty to do over a furlong out, but had to bide his time until a gap appeared. Racing up the rail inside the final furlong, he led close home to score by half a length.

The ten furlong contest provided Fayez with his ninth career success, eight of which have come for Nawton Racing. Bred by Siobhan Ryan, he is a half-brother to recent Group 2 Superlative Stakes winner Mystery Power (No Nay Never) and Group 3 second Seaella.
