Treasure Isle (No Nay Never) Wins The Listed Juvenile Sprint

Speedy No Nay Never Colt Kicks Off Fine Day For Ballydoyle

Treasure Isle (2c No Nay Never – Newton’s Night, by Galileo) kicked off a Stakes clean-sweep for Ballydoyle at the Curragh on Saturday when landing the opening Juvenile Sprint Stakes under Ryan Moore.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge won his second start in March and was last seen finishing fourth to subsequent Group 1 winner Babouche in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes. Sent off second-favourite for Saturday’s Listed sprint, he raced prominently throughout under Ryan Moore and was pushed along when challenged approaching the final furlong. Ridden out, he kept on well to score by half a length, with another three and a quarter lengths back to the third.

“Treasure Isle is a fast horse, we learned that last time,” said O’Brien. “It's unusual for a two-year-old to put up such a fast time here (57.85 seconds). The Flying Childers is the race for him.”

Bred by Newstead Breeding and owned by Coolmore partners, the son of No Nay Never becomes the first Stakes horse out of the Galileo mare Newton’s Night.

The following pattern race, the Group 3 Royal Whip Stakes, saw stablemate Continuous get the better of Joseph O’Brien’s progressive Trustyourinstinct (Churchill).

Following the win, Aidan O’Brien said, “Continuous has loads of options. He could go to the Irish Champion Stakes or the Irish St Leger. He could run in the Irish Champion with a view to going to the Arc. He could go to the Japan Cup.”

The Group 3 Irish St Leger Trial produced the most impressive winner of the day, as Grosvenor Square (Galileo) bolted up by 20 lengths under Ryan Moore.

The son of Galileo was last seen finishing second to stablemate Tower Of London (Galileo) in the Group 2 Curragh Cup, having previously won a Group 3 as a juvenile.

On his latest victory, O’Brien commented, “Grosvenor Square has serious stamina when he gets into a rhythm, he's an exciting horse. It's very hard not to go to Doncaster after that.”
