Stakes Aim For Progressive Pride Of Dubai Filly
Zaffy’s Pride (2f Pride Of Dubai - Zaafran, by Singspiel) is set for a step up in class after gaining her maiden win at Dundalk on Friday evening.
Having passed the post in front in a barrier trial at the track, the Jessica Harrington-trained filly was just denied on her official racecourse debut in August and remained over the six furlong trip on her latest start. Settled behind the leaders by Shane Foley, she was ridden approaching the final furlong and stayed on well to lead 100 yards out and scored by three parts of a length.
Jessica Harrington later commented, “I loved the way she hit the line as I thought she was in trouble half way up the straight. Shane said she could come back here for the Listed Star Appeal Stakes in a few weeks.”
Bred by Summerseat Stables, Zaffy’s Pride hails from the first Northern Hemisphere crop of Pride Of Dubai, who was crowned champion first season sire in his native Australia.
