How Impressive (3c Starspangledbanner - Bright New Day, by New Approach) proved aptly named on Thursday when making a smart debut over seven furlongs at Newcastle.

Well-supported in the market, the Hugo Palmer-trained chesnut was held up by Ross Coakley and made smooth headway in the straight. Full of running when leading a furlong out, he kept on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Owned by Middleham Park Racing, the son of Starspangledbanner was bred by Epona Bloodstock.
