Starspangledbanner Colt Flies From Last To First At Longchamp
A step up in trip saw Prosecco (2c Starspangledbanner - Comtesse, by Champs Elysees) gain a deserved maiden win at Longchamp on Sunday.
Placed on three of his previous starts, the Andrea Marcialis-trained colt was sent off favourite as he stepped up to seven furlongs in the Qatar Prix Haxo. Pierre-Charles Boudot settled the chesnut at the back of the field and asked him to quicken a furlong and a half from home. Showing a smart turn of foot, Prosecco quickened past his rivals under hands and heels, winning by a length on the line.
Successful in the colours of EPE Bloodstock, Prosecco was bred by Haras du Grand Lys and Scuderia Genets. The son of Starspangledbanner hails from the family of Commander In Chief and Warning.
