Starspangledbanner Colt Goes One Better At Haydock

Spacer (2c Starspangledbanner - First Party, by Royal Applause) built on a promising debut to justify short-priced favouritism in Friday’s seven furlong novice stakes at Haydock.

Beaten just a head over six furlongs last month, David Loughnane’s charge appeared to appreciate the step up in trip on his second start. Tracking the leader under Pat Cosgrave, he began to quicken approaching the two furlong marker and was ridden to lead entering the final furlong. Running on well, he led by a length and a half on the line.

Owned by David Lowe, the promising colt was bred by Drumlin Bloodstock and provides an important update for his yearling full-sister.
