Starspangledbanner Colt In Command In Naas Maiden
McTenett (2c Starspangledbanner - Carpe Diem Lady, by Acclamation) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism in Sunday’s six furlong maiden at Naas.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge showed signs of inexperience when finishing a promising fourth earlier this month and was reunited with Dylan Browne McMonagle on his second start. Racing prominently throughout, he led from two furlongs out and was ridden clear approaching the final furlong. Running on well, he led by two lengths on the line.
Speaking after the race, Joseph O’Brien said, “He had a nice run the first day and he learned a good bit. He was more professional today and looks a nice horse going forward.”
Owned by Bronsan Racing, the son of Starspangledbanner becomes the first winner bred by BEC Bloodstock out of Carpe Diem Lady.
