Starspangledbanner Colt Returns To Winners Enclosure
Knight Shield (2c Starspangledbanner - Three Decades, by Invincible Spirit) made it two from two when scoring over six furlongs at Newbury on Thursday.
Successful on debut over the same distance last month, the William Haggas-trained colt was sent off favourite despite carrying a penalty. James Doyle rode him to track the leaders, moving upsides at the two furlong pole and pushed the bay out to extend his advantage to a length and a half on the line, with another three lengths back to the third horse.
Owned by MM Stables, Knight Shield holds an entry in the valuable Goffs UK sales race at York, having been bought by Armando Duarte from the Tally Ho Stud draft at the Premier Yearling Sale for £140,000. Bred by MP and RJ Coleman, he is a half-brother to Listed winner Melbourne Memories.
